FRANCE 1928 ART DECO FLOWER SHOW AWARD SILVERED MEDAL BY MASCAUX 50MM NGC AU58. Beautiful original almost uncirculated French Art Medal certified AU-58 by the Numismatic Guaranty Company. (June 13, 1882 - March 8, 1965), one of my favorite Art Deco Medallists. Pupil of the Julian Academy, of Henri Bouchard and Paul Landowski. He won in 1925 the First " Grand Prix de l'Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs de Paris " and the " Société Française des Amis de la Médaille ". Art competitions at the 1924 Summer Olympics. For creating seven sports medals. During the 1990's and early 2000's I concentrated on assembling a carefully selected high end collection of hundreds of European (mostly French and Belgian) medals and jetons. The Leonard Collection was the first such collection submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation for certification. In the process, over 400 pieces were certified. My primary goal was to collect and preserve choice examples of the medallic art of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. This medal is encapsulated in a special oversize holder measuring 7 1/2" X 5 3/4".
