Beautiful complete Set of 2 historical medals restrikes gold and silver from France. Struck to celebrate the revolution of America against British occupation. Bust of Liberty left with flowing hair, liberty cap on staff behind. On reverse: Minerva representing France, repelling attack of British lion, infant Hercules below strangling serpent in each hand. Authenticity is guaranteed and certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation NGC. To verify the authenticity of this medals, please enter the certification number. NGC certificate verification web page. Commissioned by Benjamin Franklin as a tribute to American independence and was struck in Paris. 1 Gold medal - restrike in 2000.
Graded by NGC as PF 69 almost perfect condition. Included are original box and the certificate of authenticity, numbered 287 of 500 and signed by the Paris Mint director Francoise Saliou.
The original gold medal was commissioned by Benjamin Franklin. And only two pieces minted in gold for Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Proof-70 Deep Cameo - absolutely perfect condition.
