The medal's obverse features a Bald Eagle and the inscription Honoring America's Veterans.The reverse features a field of stars with one star removed and incused. "Service and Sacrifice" is the somber reverse inscription. The dollar's obverse of the coin features the American Legion emblem.
The reverse combines the Fleur de Lis and some crossed flagpoles holding the American Flag and the American Legion flags. Mint State 70 coins are flawless when examined under magnification.
